Aide - Extended Care

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Extended Care Aide provides a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for students before and/or after the regular school day. The aide supervises children, facilitates age-appropriate activities, assists with daily routines, and supports the Catholic mission and values of the school.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide active and attentive supervision of students during extended care hours.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all children.
• Assist with student check-in and dismissal according to school procedures.
• Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, reading, outdoor play, and quiet activities.
• Help students with homework, when appropriate.
• Assist students with snacks, meals, and personal needs.
• Encourage positive behavior, cooperation, kindness, and respect.
• Follow established classroom and extended-care rules and behavior expectations.
• Maintain appropriate student-to-staff supervision at all times.
• Help keep activity areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Communicate concerns about student behavior, injuries, or other issues to the Extended Care Coordinator or appropriate school personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Support and model the Catholic values and mission of the school.
• Follow all school safety, emergency, child-protection, and supervision policies.
• Assist with special events, school activities, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Dependable, patient, energetic, and nurturing personality.
• Ability to work effectively with children of different ages and abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to providing a safe and positive environment for students.
• Willingness to support the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
• Must complete required background checks, child-safety training, and other school-required certifications.
