Sales Associate, Discovery Shop

Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Discovery Shop, the Sales Associate supports the daily operations of a retail resale store, contributing to revenue growth and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. The position requires weekend availability and is paid at $16 per hour. Essential Functions 30% – Provide comprehensive donor support: receive donations, unload items, place them in designated areas, issue donation receipts, and process each donation accurately. 25% – Deliver exceptional customer service: welcome guests, assist with floor navigation, facilitate merchandise sales, process accurate POS transactions, and offer carry‑out support to customers' vehicles. 25% – Support the execution of strategic initiatives, including the Discovery Rewards program, promotional events, and budgeting guidelines to achieve annual revenue and net income goals. 10% – Assist the store manager in creating social media content and other marketing campaigns assigned. 5% – Communicate the mission of the American Cancer Society to customers and donors, including toll‑free contact information and details about direct services to the community. 5% – Maintain daily store operations: cleaning, processing merchandise, setting up displays, restocking shelves, assisting at the register, and following opening/closing procedures. Experience & Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent (required). Some college coursework in business, mathematics, or economics (preferred). Minimum 2 years of retail or service experience; leadership experience (e.g., key holder, lead) is a plus. Valid driver’s license is a plus but not required. Vaccine compliance as required by government agencies for public‑facing roles. Knowledge, Skills & Ability Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced retail environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook). Quick learning of retail software, including point‑of‑sale systems and reporting tools. Travel Requirements Occasional, infrequent travel for store visits, team or regional meetings, and local donation pick‑up, as applicable. Physical Requirements Frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting. Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 25 pounds. Visual abilities: close, color, peripheral, and depth vision; ability to focus. Use of hands for handling objects, tools, controls; reaching with hands and arms; balance, bending, talking, or hearing. Exposure to prevailing weather conditions; moderate noise level typical of the work environment.
