Job Summary and Qualifications As a Special Procedures Technologist, you are responsible for operating the imaging equipment and producing radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. You will assists the radiologist or physician to perform interventional procedures. You will demonstrate knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized techniques unique to the Special Procedures environment. You will consistently produces films of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from adolescent to geriatric You will follow established routine Special Procedures protocols You will operate the fluoroscopy and digital equipment efficiently and effectively, demonstrating the ability to trouble-shoot equipment failures You will prepare patient and equipment for procedures You will anticipate and respond to the needs of the physician, nurse, and scrub tech during the procedure You will demonstrate competency and safe, effective working knowledge of Special Procedures equipment You will complete required documentation on forms, logs and in computer You will provide Radiologist with additional information or reason for non-standard images You will administer contrast media in accordance with the contrast policies & procedures You will complete Adverse Drug Reaction Form and/or extravasation worksheet, when necessary What qualifications you will need: One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist - preferred Graduate of an educational program in Radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) OR graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology OR a military training program of equivalent standards Associates Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology - preferred Current Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy Certified in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT, (R)) Post primary certification in Cardiovascular-Intervention Technology - preferred St. David’s North Austin Medical Center ( , part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a full-service medical center providing comprehensive medical care at two locations – St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Surgical Hospital ( .
