Registered Nurse - Urgent Care Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse in the Health Services team works collaboratively with physicians and oversees multidisciplinary care. The RN initiates interventions within their scope of practice and coordinates care plans consistent with medical treatment plans. The patient care process includes: Assessment – identification, gathering, and organization of subjective and objective data on the patient, family, and significant others. Planning – identification of problems and desired outcomes, documented in a plan of care that guides care and education. Intervention – implementation of specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – determination of intervention effectiveness, documentation of conclusions, and revisions to problems, goals, and interventions as needed. Patients are prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational, and social status. Goals are identified that align with the problem to direct patient care and health promotion. Education is tailored to the identified problem and goals, fostering patient empowerment. The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional and personal growth, provides quality customer service, participates in performance improvement, and demonstrates teamwork. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. License: Current RN license in New Jersey. Valid New Jersey driver’s license preferred. BLS required. ACLS required for urgent care settings. Experience: 3–5 years of clinical experience, including pediatric care, required. Demonstrated leadership and strong organizational skills preferred. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at hire; training provided with skill required within 30–60 days. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrate competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and infectious diseases. Requires frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, sitting, walking, and lifting 25–50 pounds with assistance. Travel to off‑site locations may be required. The role involves high mental stress and frequent interruptions. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to the Practice Manager or the Administrator – Ambulatory Services.
