Work Shift Day (United States of America) Schedule & Incentives This role is eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $20,000 . A full‑time position with a Monday–Thursday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. (no weekend or holiday call). Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age‑appropriate care to the patient per department protocols. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Can independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for the procedure. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Patient Care Verifies proper clinician order for procedure. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures all studies are properly identified with correct left/right markers. Reviews ultrasound images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations, restocks crash cart, and maintains life‑support equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies correct patient identity using two unique identifiers per hospital policy. Ensures patient privacy and comfort, maintaining dignity throughout the exam. Demonstrates competence in selecting appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection. Uses critical thinking skills. Communicates with patient and family, clarifies questions, and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands and documents pre‑procedural verification and the Time‑Out process. Provides pre‑procedural care, understanding sterile technique. Is able to perform all vascular ultrasound exams. Education and Communication Explains purpose and nature of exam to patient using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, Thank). Addresses patient questions, concerns, or contraindications; notifies physician when necessary. Participates in orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures. Documents required information concisely, legibly, with precise terminology. Reads scheduled work emails daily and follows assignments. Completes mandatory departmental and hospital‑wide education without prompting. Quality Control Produces acceptable images with high first‑time acceptance rate. Checks equipment calibration and operational status before each use. Submits all studies to PACS immediately and prints/archives as needed. Prints and scans studies reported after hours by teleradiography. Completes all studies in RIS before entering PACS. Maintains probe disinfection logs and follows infection control policies. Operations Restocks linens and supplies; keeps department clean and orderly. Transports and positions patients and assists them on/off the procedure table. Handles patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices. Lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed without prompting. Performs clerical and support duties to ensure continuity and quality of services. Communicates issues to supervisor promptly. Maintains individual productivity rate equal to other co‑workers. Operates all work stations associated with the US department and transfers images to PACS. Maintains Joint Commission and regulatory agency standards. Takes call when necessary. Equipment Adjusts technique to obtain lowest possible radiation dose while maintaining image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions promptly. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment per infection control policy. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology preferred; certificate acceptable. Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated. BLS or equivalent. RCS, ARDMS, ARRT‑S, RDMS or equivalent. Required Minimum Experience Successful completion of a sonography training program. Minimum 1 year clinical experience. Required Minimum Skills Excellent verbal and written communication with physicians, patients, visitors, staff, and nursing personnel. Explain and discuss clinical information routinely. Provide directions and maintain goodwill with all contacts. Function independently and under pressure while contributing to team. Show excellent customer service skills at all times.
