Job Summary

The Technician operates and monitors refinery equipment to support safe, efficient production. Responsibilities include operating control systems, collecting samples for quality testing, handling chemicals, performing equipment inspections, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting preventive maintenance activities.

• Operate and monitor refinery equipment and control systems to maintain production targets.
• Adjust process conditions based on operating data, alarms, and quality requirements.
• Collect product and process samples for laboratory testing.
• Handle chemicals safely and accurately according to procedures.
• Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and report equipment or process issues.
• Operate forklifts and material handling equipment as needed.
• Use hand tools and production equipment safely.
• Complete operational logs and communicate during shift handovers.
• Follow all safety, PPE, and housekeeping requirements.

• Experience in manufacturing, production, chemical, or industrial operations.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Experience operating machinery, production equipment, or process control systems.
• Ability to use hand tools and material handling equipment.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and system operation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in industrial environments, including heights and confined spaces.

• Experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or process manufacturing environment.
• Background in maintenance, construction, or industrial operations.
• Experience with quality sampling, inspections, and production monitoring.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule, including nights and weekends.

• 12-hour night shift schedule (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM) for the first 6 months.
• Climate-controlled facility with some indoor and outdoor work.
• Exposure to chemicals, dust, heat, noise, steam, and fumes.
• Work may require heights, confined spaces, and use of PPE, including steel-toed boots, hard hats, and safety glasses.
• Team-oriented production environment focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ames,IA.
