Job Summary

Diamondback Masonry is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our preconstruction team in a remote or hybrid capacity.

This position is responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, structural drawings, and architectural details to prepare accurate material takeoffs and labor estimates for commercial masonry, stucco, and structural stone projects.

The Estimator will work closely with senior preconstruction staff and must be able to manage deadlines, identify scope discrepancies, and maintain a consistent level of accuracy while supporting the company's bidding pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate material takeoffs for concrete masonry units, brick, stone veneer, stucco, retaining walls, reinforcing materials, and related accessories using digital takeoff software.
• Prepare cost estimates that account for material quantities, waste factors, labor production rates, equipment rentals, and scaffolding requirements.
• Request, compare, and organize pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to support competitive and complete estimates.
• Review bid sets, plans, specifications, addenda, and requests for information to ensure estimates reflect the most current project scope.
• Identify discrepancies between architectural and structural drawings, missing scope details, and specification conflicts.
• Draft bid proposals, scope clarifications, and cost breakdowns for review by the Head of Preconstruction prior to submission.
• Maintain an organized estimating process and accurate supporting documentation.
• Maintain a production target of approximately three accurate bid packages per week .
• Remain actively available during standard working hours for team communication, contractor inquiries, site coordination, and preconstruction support.
• Participate in occasional local site visits, preconstruction walkthroughs, field verifications, team meetings, and sample deliveries or pickups.

Required Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, architectural plan reading, or a related preconstruction role.
• Experience using 3D digital takeoff software , such as Tradesmen's Software or Onscreen 3D Estimator.
• Experience using 2D PDF takeoff software , such as Bluebeam Revu, TradeTek, EDGE, or PlanSwift.
• Strong ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional masonry assemblies from two-dimensional plans, including concrete masonry units, bond beams, openings, and lintels.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including data entry, formulas, calculations, and bid-sheet formatting.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify scope gaps, drawing discrepancies, and missing information.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven preconstruction environment.
• Reliable internet connectivity and the ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid setting.
• Availability during standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience estimating commercial masonry, stucco, structural stone, or related construction scopes .
• Experience with Tradesmen's Software, Easy Takeoffs Online, Bluebeam Revu, or similar estimating and takeoff platforms.
• Previous experience supporting commercial construction bidding and preconstruction teams.
