Regional Maintenance Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Know and adhere to established safety regulations for the use of equipment and supplies necessary for surface preparation and coating application. Promptly report observed equipment or physical plant damage to the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager. Confirm that containers of hazardous chemicals are properly labeled and securely stored when not in use. Implement and follow established safety procedures when performing tasks or working with equipment that could result in bodily injury, including fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc. Report job‑related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary. Periodically check equipment for availability and proper working condition; use tools and supplies efficiently to avoid waste. Participate in the selection of items to become standards for the Health System; recommend equipment and supply needs to maintenance departments. Assist the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager with determining if equipment needs to be repaired or replaced. Participate in and develop on‑job training programs for maintenance department personnel. Assist in standardizing methods and products for surface preparation and coating application. Review competence of maintenance personnel regarding painting skills and recommend adjustments or corrections as required. Consult with the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager to identify needed improvements to Health Services physical properties and determine best solutions. Assist Health Services in development of project budgets; monitor and contain project cost within the approved budget; maintain a history of project costs. Participate in planning and carrying out of projects; work independently and make decisions as needed. Maintain a record of organization vehicle mileage and maintenance. Attend and participate in mandatory in‑services and continuing education classes to enhance the position. Honor patient’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self‑determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints. Comply with Corporate Compliance Program; promote the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing open lines of communication. Contribute to committees, workgroups, project management and other collaborative efforts of the System. Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledgeable in safety regulations as they relate to physical plant maintenance and alterations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators and other organization personnel. Communicates well with patients and family members, providing warm and friendly greetings and an approachable attitude to family/visitors/patients, and responds to expressed concerns with a helpful, caring demeanor and professional manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS At least five (5) years of experience in facility maintenance and/or as a professional painter in a commercial/industrial setting.
