This assignment starts September 1, 2026 through November 24, 2026. The daily pay rate for this substitute position is $342.85 - $367.85 based on degree status.

Qualifications:

• Hold a New Jersey certificate Social Worker N.J.A.C. 6:11-12.10
• MSW or higher degree from an accredited college or university
• Required criminal history background and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Case Management/Child Study Team
• Act as a liaison with schools assigned by the Director of Special Services/Programs
• Provide case management and services for classified students; including the development of Individualized Education Programs, and monitoring their progress
• SEMI eligible services are to be accurately entered in the online service documentation tool on a daily basis
• All direct services, including nursing services such as medication administration, submitted for reimbursement must be prescribed in the related services section of the student's IEP. The cover/signature page, related services section, and the evaluations and assessments prescribing the related service(s) must be maintained in an accurate and timely manner
• Consultation
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems
• Help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior
• Strengthen working relationships between teachers, parent, and service providers in the community
• Evaluation
• Evaluate eligibility for special services
• Determine social-emotional development, adaptive functioning level and mental health status
• Evaluate learning environments
• Intervention
• Provide school based counseling to help resolve interpersonal or family problems that interfere with social performance
• Work directly with children to help resolve problems in adjustment and learning
• Provide training in areas such as social skills, anger management, grief, divorce and substance abuse
• Help families and schools manage crisis such as death, illness or community trauma
• Prevention
• Aid in the design of programs for children at risk of failing school
• Promote tolerance, understanding and appreciation of diversity within the school community
• Assist in the development of programs that will make schools safer and more effective learning environments
• Collaborate with school staff and community agencies to provide services directed at improving emotional and physical health
• Develop partnerships with parents and teachers to promote healthy school environments
• Research and Planning
• Evaluate the effectiveness of academic and behavior management programs
• Identify and implement program and strategies to improve schools
• Professional Organizations and Development
• Participates in professional organizations (i.e. NASW and NJSSWA), conferences and field work to better understand and support student learning, development and mental health
• Provide workshops and presentations to teachers, parents, and professionals to improve school practices and policies
