Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Shifts (Days 7a–7p / Nights 7p–7a) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 31-bed Medical Surgical unit serving general medicine patients with a variety of diagnoses
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 4–5:1 on days and 5–6:1 on nights; surgical staffing ratios may reach up to 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights
• Titrate Heparin drips and manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, as well as stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or PRN
• Attempt IV starts independently and utilize unit resources when needed; coordinate with inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Collaborate with 24/7 Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy staff; monitor patients on telemetry remotely via house-wide telemetry department (Philips equipment)
• Float to other units as needed; travel RNs are first to float per unit policy

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 1 year of hospital experience preferred
• ACLS certification preferred, particularly for candidates interested in Charge RN responsibilities
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and Philips monitoring equipment
