Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All weekends and federal holidays off.
Reports To: Regional Manager
Direct Reports: 1 to 2 team members
Compensation: $20.75/hour base wage plus $5.09/hour Health & Welfare benefit under the applicable SCA wage determination. Paid federal holidays and paid vacation and sick per the wage determination.

About the Opportunity
Lean Synergy Solutions is hiring a full-time Custodial Supervisor to lead daily janitorial operations at the Harrisonburg Federal Courthouse. This role is performed on behalf of a nonprofit federal service contractor operating on an SCA-covered federal contract. The Supervisor directs a small crew, works alongside the team, and serves as the operational point of contact with the building.
Position Summary
The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of janitorial operations at the Harrisonburg Federal Courthouse. The Supervisor directs a team of 1 to 2 employees, ensures all work meets contract quality standards, coordinates with courthouse staff, and reports to the Regional Manager. This is a working supervisor role, meaning the Supervisor cleans alongside the team for most of the shift and handles inspections, coaching, timekeeping, and documentation for the balance.
A meaningful portion of the on-site workforce consists of individuals with significant disabilities. The Supervisor plays a direct role in supporting, training, and developing those employees in coordination with the employer's Human Resources and Rehabilitation staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and work alongside a team of 1 to 2 employees performing daily janitorial duties throughout the courthouse (restrooms, offices, courtrooms, common areas, floor care, trash and recycling removal)
- Schedule and assign daily work, monitor completion, and report status to the Regional Manager
- Ensure all work meets contract quality standards, specifications, and the contract Quality Control Plan
- Perform routine quality inspections; provide coaching, retraining, or corrective action as needed
- Enforce courthouse security protocols, badging, key control, and access procedures
- Coordinate daily with the building point of contact, court staff, court security officers, and the U.S. Marshals Service
- Maintain accurate arrival/departure and absenteeism records; submit timekeeping accurately and on schedule
- Manage cleaning supply and equipment inventory; request replenishment through the operations procurement process
- Ensure federal safety, sanitation, bloodborne pathogen, and OSHA standards are met, including PPE and chemical labeling
- Respond to unscheduled cleaning needs during the shift (spills, restroom issues, emergency cleanups)
- Communicate proactively with the courthouse point of contact regarding schedule changes, service disruptions, or facility concerns
- Support employees with disabilities, including implementing approved reasonable accommodations through the employer's HR and Rehabilitation staff
- Attend team and safety meetings; complete all required training
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of contract performance
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in custodial, facilities, or comparable operational environment
- Ability to obtain federal facility credentialing (favorable fitness determination + HSPD-12 PIV) and pass background investigation
- Ability to lead a small team, delegate, monitor quality, and deliver corrective feedback professionally
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English sufficient for reports, logs, and coordination with courthouse staff
- Reliable transportation to the Harrisonburg, VA work site
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Physically able to perform an 8-hour shift with frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
Preferred Qualifications
- Veteran, disabled veteran, or individual with a disability (strongly preferred)
- Prior experience in a federal facility (GSA, federal courthouse, VA, DoD installation)
- Prior custodial supervision on an SCA-covered federal contract
- Experience supervising or supporting employees with disabilities
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Bloodborne pathogens training
- Floor care experience (buffing, burnishing, stripping and waxing, carpet extraction)
- Bilingual English and Spanish

Compensation & Benefits
Base Wage: $20.75 per hour (Service Contract Act position; wages set per the federal wage determination)
Health & Welfare: $5.09 per hour paid on top of the base wage in accordance with the wage determination
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All weekends and federal holidays off
Time Off: Ten paid federal holidays, plus paid vacation and sick leave per the applicable SCA wage determination
Support: Uniform shirts and required PPE provided at no cost. Employee provides black or khaki pants and closed-toe shoes
