Respiratory Care Specialist

Location and Pay Range Altru Hospital, 1200 South Columbia Road, Grand Forks, ND 58201. Pay Range: $15.50 - $23.22 per hour. Summary The Respiratory Care Specialist EMT assists and supports the Respiratory Therapy team, serving patients with breathing difficulties, asthma, or other pulmonary ailments. Responsibilities include providing oxygen and therapies within the hospital setting. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and implement treatments for acute respiratory disorders. Administer oxygen therapy, walking desaturation tests, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and assist the Respiratory Therapy team as needed. Perform O2 rounds, disassemble, clean respiratory equipment, and perform preventive maintenance per SOP. Recognize patients who may require additional respiratory support at home prior to discharge. Identify patient and family needs. Identify significant changes in patient’s condition and report to Respiratory Therapist. Complete all documentation, including order entry, verification, EMR, medication charting, patient safety/incident reports, equipment repair tags, etc. per SOP. Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs. Required Certifications Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – North Dakota Board of Emergency Services, prior to start. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, prior to start. Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, prior to start. Language Requirements Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
