Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Full Stack / Product Engineering) Location: New York Employment Type: Full-time About the Opportunity Surge Group is seeking Software Engineers with experience in crypto, digital assets, Web3, or crypto-native companies to join a range of high-growth businesses across AI, fintech, digital assets, enterprise SaaS, and consumer technology. These teams are building products at scale, tackling complex technical challenges, and redefining their respective industries. Opportunities span Backend, Full Stack, Product Engineering, and AI-native development environments, ranging from well-funded startups to established category leaders. What You’ll Be Doing Design, build, and scale production systems used by thousands to millions of users. Own features end-to-end – from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration. Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines. Develop intuitive, high-performance frontend experiences and user interfaces. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data, and AI teams to deliver impactful solutions. Drive architectural decisions that balance scalability, reliability, and speed of execution. Improve engineering standards through code reviews, testing, observability, and mentorship. Contribute to technical strategy while remaining hands‑on in implementation. Work directly with customers and stakeholders to understand problems and deliver meaningful solutions. What We're Looking For 4+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience in Backend, Full Stack, or Product Engineering roles. Proven track record of shipping production software used by real customers. Experience building and maintaining scalable distributed systems and APIs. Strong software architecture and system design capabilities. Ability to operate independently and take ownership in ambiguous environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Startup experience or experience working in fast-moving, high-growth environments is highly preferred. Tech Stack Experience (experience in some of the following) Backend: Python, Go, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Rust, Java, C++, C#, TypeScript Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Svelte, Tailwind CSS AI & Emerging Technologies: LLMs, RAG, AI Agents, LangChain, LangGraph, Vector Databases, GenAI applications Nice to Have Experience within fintech, payments, digital assets, AI, SaaS, or marketplace businesses. Experience working with AI-native products or integrating AI into production systems. Experience with blockchain or Web3 technologies. Strong computer science fundamentals including distributed systems and algorithms. Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers.
