Maintenance Technician

Dual Craft Maintenance TechnicianThe Dual Craft Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping a high-volume, climate-controlled distribution center operating at peak performance. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems, including conveyors, sortation equipment, motors, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and facility systems. This position focuses on maximizing equipment uptime through preventive maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives, all while following strict safety standards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on conveyors, sortation equipment, motors, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and facility systems.Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.Respond quickly to equipment failures and perform emergency repairs to restore operations safely and efficiently.Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root causes of recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.Conduct electrical troubleshooting on systems including 3-phase power and variable frequency drives (VFDs).Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to plan and execute repairs.Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns, and take appropriate corrective measures.Document maintenance activities accurately in maintenance systems and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders.Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper application of lockout/tagout (LOTO) during maintenance work.Collaborate with operations and other maintenance personnel to prioritize work orders and minimize disruption to production.Work independently to manage assigned tasks in a fast-paced distribution environment.Provide support for off-shift coverage or overtime as needed to maintain facility uptime.Essential Skills3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a high-volume or similar environment.Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 3-phase power and VFDs.Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing conveyors, motors, VFDs, PLCs, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting to identify and resolve control-related issues.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical drawings.Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety standards and LOTO procedures.Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.Additional Skills & QualificationsWelding and fabrication experience preferred.Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support off-shift or overtime needs when required.Comfort working with a variety of industrial equipment and technologies.Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to support continuous improvement efforts.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers the chance to work in a modern, climate-controlled distribution center where safety, reliability, and continuous improvement are valued. Work may involve standing, walking, and working on or around industrial machinery, with occasional off-shift or overtime hours to support operational needs.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Central City, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
