Respiratory Therapist - Full-time Nights

Position Summary Join the MercyOne Family as a Respiratory Therapist. You will perform patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment, and monitoring of patients across all age groups, including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric adult. Employment Details Type: Full time, 36 hours per week Shift: 12‑hour night shift, weekends every other weekend Responsibilities Perform inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium‑oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide‑oxygen therapy, nitric oxide‑oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, high‑frequency oscillator therapy, and ventilatory support modalities as ordered. Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation; assist or perform intubation; manage artificial airway; transport patients requiring ventilatory support. Assemble, manipulate, and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors. Interpret diagnostic results for feasibility and report results, including blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co‑oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end‑tidal CO2, and pulse oximetry. Perform record keeping, billing, and medical record documentation functions. Provide patient instruction in the use of respiratory care devices and procedures. Qualifications Credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire. Active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within 3 months of hire. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training completed within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter; ACLS certification preferred within one year of hire.
