We are partnering with a prominent State of Texas agency in Austin to recruit an experienced Senior IT Support Specialist – Endpoint Operations. This role is ideal for an advanced help desk professional proficient in managing support queues, troubleshooting enterprise hardware and software, and delivering executive-level technical support in a dynamic public sector environment.

 

The Team You Will Be Joining

You will join the agency’s central Information Services Division (ISD), working alongside a collaborative team of IT professionals responsible for enterprise-wide technology operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, this team provides critical Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support, network connectivity troubleshooting, executive VIP support, and hardware life-cycle management to ensure seamless operations across the organization.

 

Major Duties

• Serve as the Senior Support Specialist for Tier 1 IT support, managing support ticket queues, prioritizing incoming requests, and resolving escalated incidents.
• Provide VIP and executive-level technical support for agency directors, leadership, and staff.
• Troubleshoot and maintain hardware, software, office equipment, VoIP phones, mobile devices (iOS), printers, and conference room AV technology (Teams, Zoom, displays).
• Administer Active Directory user accounts, assign rights, manage print queues, reset passwords, create divisional groups, and run security software.
• Setup, configure, and issue computers and mobile devices for staff; manage IT asset inventory, system cleanup, and equipment returns.
• Document technical procedures, provide guidance to end-users on operating standards, and assist with special technology projects.
• Cross-train on critical agency systems and participate in a rotating after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call schedule.

 

What are we looking for?

• Education & Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years of experience in computer systems support work. (Note: College education in Computer Science or a related field and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis).
• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency with Windows 11, Apple iOS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Domain environments, and ticket queue management.
• Hardware & AV Support: Hands-on experience troubleshooting workstations, laptops, mobile devices, VoIP systems, copiers/printers, and web conferencing AV setups.
• Licensure & Physical Requirements: Valid Driver’s License (or ability to obtain a TX license within 90 days) and the ability to lift/move equipment up to 30 lbs.

 

Exciting Opportunity Details

• Rate: $44 / hour
• Length of Engagement: 6 months (Contract, with potential for FTE conversion or extension)
• Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, Regular Business Hours (plus participation in a rotating after-hours/weekend on-call schedule)
• Location: Austin, TX (On-site / Office environment)
