Site Reliability Engineer

Client is currently seeking a talented Software Engineer who is able to work into the Site Reliability Engineer role. This candidate is expected to work towards becoming a Subject Matter Expert in the cloud space and will work as a part of a global team. Your main responsibilities are to build tooling and automate redundant processes. You will also be required to help maintain systems stability, availability, and performance levels. Reporting to the Manager, you will form part of a global team that will drive best practice in the PaaS arena, we work in a lean agile fashion. You will be expected to collaborate with, and support other agile product development teams and operational teams whose primary responsibilities will be to support education services in production and pre-production environments. Remote to start due to covid, but will go back on site Duration/Potential Extension?:1 yr possible extensions Interview Process: 2 rounds; 1st resume screen-how trouble shoot; some cloud/infra understanding and how to build/utilize (panel of 3-hm, lead, and arch); 2nd round w/ director (panel of 2) Top Must Have Skills/Qualifications: 1. IAC - Infrastructure as code - Terraform, CloudFormation or something similar 3. Competence of linux w/ Bash 4. Containerization Top Nice to Have Skills/Qualifications: 1. understanding of new relic 2. logging Soft Skills: 1. communication 2. take a step back and get thoughts together before answering 3. jira tickets/story writing Typical Day in the Role: on calls w/ development teams and be available for them when issues come up, tickets working on performance upgrades, how make/improve system better, improve services, reporting/exercise – create new instances, tickets understood and planned, a lot of comms w/ teams Candidate value proposition: they can be part of a company that is changing the game!
