About the Position Fort Stewart is the largest Department of Defense installation east of the Mississippi River, covering approximately 280,000 acres across five Georgia counties. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead or supervise common Electronics Mechanic duties that include using test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, as well as troubleshooting to determine the cause of malfunctions. Use and operate a multimeter, oscilloscopes, and automated test set to diagnose, test and repair electronics equipment. Skilled in repairing a variety of electronics equipment, systems and devices. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey‑level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to confirm proper performance. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to use hand and power tools, apply new methods, and suggest improvements. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment. Physical effort: Lifts and carries infrastructure and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Assistance is available when carrying heavier equipment for long distances. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing up and down stairs. Working Conditions Works inside and outside during all types of weather conditions. Works on remote ranges in rough terrain. Is exposed to the possibility of abrasions, cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, falls, and explosions.
