About the Position Please Note: Review of applications will begin on September 25, 2026. Under the supervision of the AVP/Dean of Students and work lead direction of the Wellness Services Coordinator the Health Educator engages the campus community in evidence-based approaches to support student wellness and disseminate data to drive findings of associated programs. This position will coordinate operations for the WellNest including food pantry appointments, operational procedures for food storage, food distribution, providing health resources, and cooking demonstrations. The Health Educator regularly collaborates with university committees to implement strategic initiatives to address the wellbeing needs of students. This position is responsible to assess, design, implement, and evaluate wellbeing programs. Additionally, the Health Educator regularly conducts workshops and outreach events promoting campus resources, as well as implements wellbeing messaging through social marketing approaches. The Health Educator inform wellbeing issues pertinent to a university setting including but not limited to Basic Needs - food & housing security, Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drugs (ATOD), Cold/Flu, Nutrition/Fitness, Self-Care, Sexual Health, and Violence Prevention. This position provides guidance for wellbeing campaigns, programs and services offered within the WellNest and Wellness Center. The Health Educator also works closely with campus partners to support promotion of wellness services and leadership development for student assistants. The position works closely with Peer Advocates for Wellness (PAW) student assistants for scheduling office hours and monitoring weekly assignments. The Health Educator develops projects, outreach events, learning outcomes, professional development, and training. The Health Educator will also coordinate and mentor PAW students in providing services in a client-centered, trauma informed approach. The Health Educator collaborates with the Director and Wellbeing Services Coordinator to inform needs for departmental purchases, office and outreach supplies. The Health Educator must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and will occasionally require work in the evenings and weekends for outreach events/workshops and presentations. Responsibilities Department Support and Daily Operations Coordinate daily WellNest operations in support of health education, wellness promotion, and student access to basic needs resources, including coordinating food pantry appointments, connecting students with appropriate health and wellness resources, providing informational tours, greeting and assisting visitors, supporting food demonstrations, and addressing other operational needs that facilitate delivery of health education and wellness services. Facilitate and maintain best-practice procedures for food storage, distribution, and sanitation to support nutrition, food safety, and food security programming, ensuring adherence to county and state safe-food handling guidelines and adapting practices based on the changing health and wellness needs of the student population. Coordinate food procurement and food access efforts in support of student nutrition, food security, and wellness initiatives through partnerships with Pioneer Dining, food recovery programs, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, food drives, and other campus and community resources. Maintain operational records, utilization data, program logs, and reporting procedures for WellNest services to assess student participation and needs, evaluate service delivery, identify trends, and inform health education, wellness, and food security programming. Support daily operations of the RAW Wellness Center to facilitate student access to health and wellness resources and programs, including coordinating relaxation room and Wii appointments, providing informational tours, greeting and assisting visitors, and connecting students with available wellness services and resources. Wellbeing Educational and Consultative Functions Assess, implement, and evaluate student needs on a variety of wellness topics including but not limited to basic needs, ATOD, nutrition, sexual health, stress management, and other topic areas pertinent to a college student population. Maintain records and outcome data to prepare written and verbal reports. Support process/policy development for maintenance of accreditation documents. Serve as departmental point of contact for food access and food security initiatives including but not limited to CalFresh/EBT sales initiatives, PAW Approved, initiatives with Pioneer Dining. Participate in outreach, workshops, guest lectures, housing events, and other presentations that represent campaigns, programs, and services provided by RWUU. Facilitate didactic training, practicum experience, and student leader meetings. Develop projects and outreach assignments that align with learning outcomes. Provide training and skill development for implementation of the wellbeing topics. Ensure staffing levels are scheduled for service delivery within the WellNest and to implement outreach activities and events. Support mentorship, leadership development, professional growth, and career readiness of department student assistants. Administration and Collaboration Collaborates with campus partners within the Division of Student Affairs and academic units to develop and implement programs and events that contribute to student success. Collaborate with the Director and department staff to develop annual budget projections for operational, programming and outreach needs. Collaborate with the Directors of Student Health & Counseling Services to identify and employ opportunities for clinical collaboration, appropriate healthcare practices, and facility usage that support student access to services. Maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, community-based organizations to enhance program offerings and secure additional resources. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an approved program in health education or a related health field. Equivalent to one to two years of progressively responsible health education experience or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Skills and Knowledge Thorough knowledge of health education theories, research, and program assessment; planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of health education programs; and industry standards for the delivery of health education in higher education. General knowledge of, or the ability to learn quickly, current and emerging college-age, student health problems and existing methods of intervention and control. Working knowledge of the principles of educational and social psychology and how these apply to health education program; and applicable industry standards and practices for health promotion such as those found in the American College Health Association's "Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education." Abilities Ability to assess needs and establish or recommend program priorities and goals and develop plans to achieve goals; collect, compile, chart, and analyze data pertinent to health education program planning; plan, organize, conduct or oversee a variety of health education program and activities including discussion groups and workshops; develop educational materials and media such as pamphlets, audio and video materials, and electronic media; present ideas and information accurately, effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing; use computer and web-based information technology systems as a resource for research and providing health education programs; maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable laws and regulations; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, students, medical, and other health professionals, representatives of the news media and other community groups. Required Qualifications Thorough knowledge of health wellness topics: Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drugs (ATOD), Nutrition/Fitness, Self-Care, Sexual Health, and Violence Prevention. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and have the ability to work weekends and evenings as needed for outreach events, workshops and presentations. Preferred Skills and Knowledge An American Public Health Association approved master's degree in Public Health with emphasis on health education, a master's degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, or equivalent and/or national certification are highly preferred.
