Cardiovascular Registered Nurse

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with a shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Job Description

The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse utilizes clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. As a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), you will care for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including those undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients post-open heart surgery, including approximately 300 annual discharges from the unit.
• Specialize in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and conduct electrophysiology studies.
• Collaborate with the NISUS research department on national clinical trials utilizing CVU.
• Maintain adherence to a strict attendance policy that includes a three-strike attendance rule.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of Stepdown experience (required).
• Proficiency in cardiac care (required).
• Must be comfortable with EKG readings (required).
• Willingness to float to similar units (required).
• Active Michigan RN license is required; verification through LARA and Nursys is necessary.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.
