Overview Commissioning Engineer, AMER-Central ACx. Job ID: 10391795.Amazon Data Services, Inc. The Commissioning team (ACx) defines and manages construction quality to meet customer requirements for data center electrical and mechanical systems. The CxE supports vendors, contractors, and teams during construction and commissioning of systems such as medium and low voltage power, generators, UPS, HVAC, chilled water, BMS, EPMS, testing and balancing, and pumps/hydronic systems. Responsibilities Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. Review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third-party commissioning vendors for onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated system testing. Own project successes by diving deep to resolve technical issues and taking action to address schedule and coordination demands onsite. Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements. Provide multi-discipline input into scheduling, test script development, design, and planning of projects. Review submittal packages, lead FWT, and perform system-level and integrated testing. Continuously audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Prepare comprehensive weekly status reports and document lessons learned to improve the commissioning program. Support coverage of multiple inflight projects and tight timelines. Coordinate with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractors to prioritize tasks and ensure clear issue resolution paths. Day in the life / Work Context Coordinate site activities, identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document findings with the commissioning vendor. Escalate project turnover risks to appropriate stakeholders as needed. Share lessons learned upon project completion to aid peers on in-flight projects and drive program improvements. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience in electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas). Experience in design review to incorporate electrical, mechanical, and automation controls solutions to drive reliability and standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents. Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, and air handling units. Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved submittals.
