Respiratory Therapist RRT

Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist RRT to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high‑quality respiratory care to patients across a variety of acute and critical care settings, including emergency, medical‑surgical, intensive care, and specialty units. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory therapies such as oxygen administration, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients as appropriate. You will perform and interpret diagnostic respiratory procedures, including arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, pulmonary function tests, and bedside respiratory assessments, adjusting treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders. The Respiratory Therapist RRT will respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, assisting with airway management, intubation support, and life‑support equipment operation while maintaining a calm and professional presence. You will ensure safe and effective use of ventilators and other respiratory care equipment, performing routine checks, troubleshooting alarms, and collaborating with biomedical and clinical teams to maintain proper function and infection control standards. Documentation of assessments, treatments, patient education, and outcomes in the electronic medical record must be accurate, timely, and compliant with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
