Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Mill Machinist for our machine shop located in Santa Fe Springs, CA. The role involves operating mill machines primarily and offers competitive hourly compensation based on experience. The position is available for both 1st Shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm) and 2nd Shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm), with training conducted during the 1st shift.

• Communicate effectively with leadsman and machinist regarding jobs before commencing work.
• Ensure safety and guidance for all employees.
• Report any issues promptly to the Operations Manager.
• Implement innovative solutions to reduce waste in machining processes.
• Adhere to related Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and Work Instructions.

• Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience.
• Proficiency in providing information on machining methods.
• Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches.
• Competence in reading blueprints, identifying dimensions, and understanding GD & T.
• Capability to measure parts accurately using measuring tools.
• Knowledge of G-code and tool wear conditions.
• Ability to meet company production requirements.

• Ability to perform job set-ups independently is a plus.
• Excellent shop math skills are advantageous.
• Computer literacy is a beneficial addition.
• Previous experience in a machine shop environment.
• Setup and operating experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Experience working with tight tolerances.
• Experience with offsets and changeovers.
• Experience in an aerospace machine shop is a huge plus.

The machine shop operates 1st Shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and 2nd Shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, with initial training on the 1st shift. The facility houses over 50 CNC machines and manufactures parts for diverse applications including jet fighters, commercial airplanes, helicopters, satellites, race cars, medical equipment, and water pumps. Note that some parts are used for military purposes, and candidates should be comfortable with this aspect.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton Grove, IL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
