Parks Maintenance Worker

City of Avondale

The City of Avondale is accepting applications for Parks Maintenance Worker in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department. Provides general maintenance and repair to City parks and sports fields. Responsibilities Maintain irrigation systems; install, troubleshoot, and repair various irrigation controllers, including electrical troubleshooting of system components. Clean and stock daily park restrooms. Trim trees and bushes. Perform turf maintenance, including over-seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, aerating, and seeding turf areas, and set up proper watering systems for seasonal turf. Clean and maintain playgrounds, picnic shelters, and other park facilities. Remove trash and debris from parks. Assist the Parks Maintenance Lead with park projects, training staff, and working with outside contractors. Operate landscape equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, chippers, hedge trimmers, spreaders, backpack sprayers, sod cutters, utility vehicles, tractors, and aerators. Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on playgrounds, picnic shelters, irrigation systems, landscaping, and sports turf. Assist with field and park preparation and maintenance (dragging, lining, upkeep of infields). Maintain equipment and supplies storage. Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule may include a rotational schedule with evenings, weekends, and holidays. Standard hours are Sunday to Thursday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, but may change. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalency. Three (3) years of experience in parks maintenance or a related field. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire. #J-18808-Ljbffr
