Description Responsible for the instruction and care of assigned students, creating classroom environments conducive to effective learning, while maintaining commitment to NCS's mission, vision, curriculum standards, and instructional excellence. At Neuse Charter School, we trust our staff will:

- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students, preparing them for current and future challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
- Set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
- Foster a collaborative spirit with fellow teachers by sharing strategies, resources, and insights to improve student outcomes.
- Demonstrate integrity, empathy, and fairness by treating all students and colleagues with respect and kindness.
- Design and deliver instructional lessons to meet curriculum requirements.
- Provide planned learning experiences that encourage and motivate students, utilize best practices, and are developmentally appropriate.
- Develop and submit current lesson plans (daily and/or weekly) and instructional materials that provide personalized and small group instruction in order to adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of each student.
- Utilize appropriate school-approved instructional material, aids, and supplies with fidelity that assist in the development of innovative, well-organized units of study, and that are appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied backgrounds and who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity.
- Identify, record, and reflect on student needs and cooperate with the professional learning community (PLC) to assess, plan, monitor and implement methods to solve student health, attitude and learning issues.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to deliver high-level, rigorous, and individualized learning experiences for all students.
- Cooperatively pursue alternative solutions to ameliorate student learning problems, and to enhance academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities.
- Implement school-approved LMS (ie. CANVAS) and technology platforms to support and enhance instruction.
- Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere inside and outside of the classroom, aligned to NCS's portrait of a Cougar.
- Provide a functional, orderly, tidy, and engaging classroom environment conducive for learning and curriculum alignment.
- Plan and coordinate with aides, instructional assistants, parent volunteers, substitutes, and other paraprofessionals as appropriate.
- Prepare and administer assessments (i.e., formative, summative, performance-based) and score, document, and report results with a focus on mastery.
- Administer school-approved standardized assessments/tests in accordance with state regulations and analyze and utilize results effectively to support positive student growth.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth using a variety of data sources, maintain appropriate and accurate records, prepare student reports, and communicate with parents regarding their students' progress as required by applicable laws and policies.
- Understand and implement the MTSS process with fidelity.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student learning and progress.
- Actively participate in department, school-wide, and family meetings, curriculum mapping exercises, lesson plan development, training, professional development, and other related projects as required.
- Actively participate in grade-level and/or department-wide PLC(s).
- Oversee proper stewardship of school resources and management of student records in accordance with FERPA and IDEA.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and deliver reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Supervise students in extra-curricular activities as assigned, including morning and afternoon carpool duty, lunch duty, game day coverage, and other reasonable requests and appropriate directives as assigned by administration.
- Share in the advisement/sponsorship of student activities and clubs, and participate in faculty committees as assigned.
- Attend all school functions as required by leadership, including, but not limited to, after-school staff meetings and PD, assigned after-school athletic duties, etc.
- Encourage parent and community involvement.
- Promptly respond to all communications within 2 business days.
- Update PowerSchool and Canvas simultaneously and by Monday at 3 pm weekly to allow for accurate and up-to-date grades at all times.
- Attend and actively engage in all required teacher in-service trainings and maintain professional competence through engaging in additional learning opportunities and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Seek opportunities to share innovations and best practices with colleagues.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education and/or a related field.
- NC Teacher's License, preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal educational laws and regulations.
- Ability to identify, quantify, and address student needs and academic performance, and programs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PowerSchool, Google Docs and apps, and related technology.
- Able to support and articulate the school's mission, goals, and objectives in a positive and inspirational manner.
- Can express ideas clearly and use language to build common understanding.
- Aligns resources to accomplish key objectives and assigns clear accountability for important objectives. Achieves meaningful accomplishments.
- Works well across departments, focused on modeling and building collaborative relationships.

- Uses logical methods to solve problems while producing effective solutions; probes all appropriate resources for solutions; takes initiative to identify and improve programs, systems, and processes.
- Normal periods of sitting and standing in a classroom.
- Extended periods of standing and walking on the school campus.
- Reaching with hands and arms and operating hand-held and desktop office equipment on a regular basis.
- Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Assisting students with tasks such as eating, using the bathroom/changing diapers, and moving from one classroom to another (if applying for a Lower Academy or EC Teacher position).
- Assisting other staff members in lifting/moving students up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis (if applying for an EC Teacher position).
- Normal vision (with or without correction).
- Normal hearing (with or without correction).
- The majority of work is performed inside an office building and is temperature-controlled. The level of noise is usually typical of a classroom setting.
