Job Description
Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner
Profession: Clinical Specialists/Professionals
Specialty: Peds
Duration: 26-week contracts
Shift: Nights
Hours per Shift: Guaranteed 48 hours/week
Experience: Two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred
License: Licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care
Must-Have: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist credential must be received within 12 months of hire


Description:
Under general supervision, provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels.
Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff.
Record treatment information and patient treatment response in computerized medical records.
Act as a resource person to medical staff.
Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
Provide age-appropriate care to patients.
Ensure that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records.
Perform as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment is essential.
Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system and to the age of the patient are necessary.
Ability to interpret appropriate information to identify patient needs is required.
Ability to work under stress while maintaining good interpersonal skills is important.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff is essential.
Some computer skills are necessary.
Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program is required.
