There is pride among the staff in giving back to the community.Perks:Competitive WagesComprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, Dental and Vision InsuranceProfessional Development OpportunitiesEmployee Assistance ProgramsCompany Paid Life Insurance401k with 5% Match11 Paid Holidays20 Days PTORecognition and RewardsCommunity ImpactPosition SummaryPharmacy Technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, are responsible for assisting pharmacist in filling prescriptions, billing of prescriptions to third parties, collection of payments from patients, and maintaining drug inventory.Description of Primary Responsibilities1) Responsible for patient carea) Provide necessary pharmaceutical services to patients and customers of Palms Medical Group (PMG), under supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and within his/her scope of practice in accordance with stated policies, procedures and protocols of PMG and Florida State Statute 465.014.b) Exhibit professionalism when greeting and serving patients and customers in the pharmacy.c) Enter necessary patient information, including insurance coverage, and prescriptions into the pharmacy software.d) Accurately bill and collect payment for prescriptions from customers and third-party agencies.e) Mix pharmaceutical preparations, perform medication counts, fill bottles with prescribed tables/capsules and type labels for bottles.f) Assist the pharmacist to prepare and dispense medications as above, and:Ensure all controlled substances are double-counted and marked accordingly with a 'DC'.Will double check amount dispensed by circling the quantity on the pharmacy receipt label for quantities that are not #30.2) Responsible for inventory managementa) Assist in maintaining sufficient inventory and supplies for the pharmacy operations.b) Receive and store incoming supplies.c) Count stock and enter data into computer for inventory maintenance.d) Clean, organize and maintain professional work areas3) Responsible for administrative dutiesa) Read and adhere to the Pharmacy Policy Manual and the Pharmacy Technician Manual.b) Operate a cash register and be able to accurately handle money exchanges.c) File invoices and copy prescriptions.d) Assist with pharmacy compliance to applicable statutory requirements (DEA, Board of Pharmacy) and with compliance to accreditation standards (AAAHC) and HRSA's 340B Drug Program.e) Assist the Pharmacy Technician Coordinator and/or the Pharmacy Director with data collection as needed.f) Assist with audits and surveys as directed by the Pharmacy Technician Coordinator.g) Perform any other duty assigned by the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator, Pharmacy Director, CPO/CAO, or CEO to improve the efficiency of PMG.RequirementsDescription of Primary Attributes1) Must be organized, self-motivated, and detailed oriented.2) Job duties require the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.3) May be expected to travel to and provide coverage for other PMG pharmacies during Pharmacy Tech absences.4) Assist in the training and mentoring of coworkers by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting skill development.Professional & Technical Knowledge:1) Maintain ability to read and interpret physician prescriptions.2) Be proficient with mathematical instructions (add, subtract, multiple and divide) in all units (whole number, fractions and decimals).3) Be able to compute ratios and percentages.4) Be expected to navigate and operate Microsoft Office suite products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Licenses & Certifications:1) High School Diploma or Equivalent2) Current Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Florida3) Current or obtain within 6 months of employment; Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board4) Minimum of one (1) year retail experience5) Current BLS (basic life support) CertificationCommunications Skills:1) Effectively communicates complex and/or technical information to co-workers, patients, and/or vendors.Physical/Mental/Emotional Demands:Standing for extended periods of timeSitting for extended periods of timeViewing a computer monitor for extended periods of timeBendingStretching / ReachingWalking short distancesLifting up to 50 poundsOperating office equipment (computer, fax machines, telephones, and copy machines)Reading forms / Instructions / Patients ChartsCommunicating well to people of various ages, educational levels, cultural backgrounds in person or by telephoneExposure to potentially violent / irate patientsMaking decisions with little guidanceHealth / Safety Consideration of Position:Exposure to chemical infectious / contagious illnessExposure to chemical and inhalation of antibiotics during reconstitutionExposure to X-Ray radiationExposure to a variety of scents and odorsMust utilize universal precaution in clinical or exposure situations as prescribed by federal state, and local guidelines and /or laws
