In this vital role you will be responsible for counseling Amgen’s Global Commercial Operations clients on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues concerning promotion, sales, patient support programs, contracting, education and scientific exchange regarding biopharmaceutical products that are subject to oversight and regulation by several entities of the U.S. Federal government.The primary responsibilities of this Counsel position will include:Advising and counseling on fraud and abuse matters relating to commercial activities involving members of the healthcare community (including payers, pharmacies, providers and patient and professional advocacy groups and associations), with emphasis on Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims ActAssessing proposed and ongoing patient support programs for legal riskAnalyzing, reviewing and approving promotional, educational and patient support programs and materialsAdvising key stakeholders on legal, regulatory and policy developments to ensure that legal support is adapted to a rapidly changing environmentProviding guidance on proposed sales and marketing strategiesAdvising on interconnected issues of law and policy relating to government health care programsCoordinating legal support by contributing as a member of cross-functional team and interacting with business and law department colleagues on various mattersWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The legal professional we seek is a dynamic individual with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdictionandtwo (2) years of experience practicing lawPreferred Qualifications:4+ years of corporate, government and/or law firm experience.Proven superior legal skills, including excellent oral and written communication, legal analysis, drafting and negotiation skillsAbility to lead and influence othersStrong client service, business counseling, and a problem-solving focusAbility to manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environmentSuperior academic achievementExperience with health care law (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, Medicare/Medicaid/340B) is a plus.
