Role Overview

As part of the IT team at the TMHCC Specialty Group headquarters in Wakefield, MA, you will play a key role in the implementation, configuration, and ongoing development of our new insurance technology platform built on Origami Risk. The platform is being systematically rolled out across multiple specialty insurance lines of business and will support core insurance capabilities and business processes.

In this role, you will configure and develop solutions within the Origami platform to meet business and technical requirements. Responsibilities will span user interfaces and forms, business rules and validations, rating and underwriting functionality, data processing, reporting, and integrations with internal and external systems. You will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and implementation partners to translate insurance business requirements into scalable, maintainable Origami solutions.

The role is not limited to web application configuration and development. It will also involve designing, configuring, and supporting system integrations, APIs, data exchanges, batch processes, and other components required to integrate Origami with the broader TMHCC technology ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Within the first 30 days , you will learn the business and IT systems: gain familiarity with the TMHCC Specialty insurance business by learning the product suite at a high level and the state of the IT systems currently in place.

Within the first 90 days, you will develop a more detailed understanding: work with Business Analysts, Developers, and Product Owners to assess IT system functionality and determine user and developer needs. Establish and maintain a thorough knowledge of products from a technical perspective.

Within 6 months , you will work with the development team to test and improve IT systems: collaborate with the IT team to document future state system requirements and test various web applications. Support users with a variety of business needs including new system enhancement requests, troubleshooting issues, generation of reports and business intelligence based on priorities set by Product Owners and Business Analysts.

Within 12 months , you will help to support the full application development lifecycle including new release testing and quality.

Ongoing , you will be responsible for combining knowledge of low code/ no code technology with software engineering practices to design, develop and enhance innovative web applications. Ensuring the design, build, testing, and deployment of applications meet documented internal and external stakeholder requirements. Staying current on and applying application configuration best practices to scale and ensure web applications on modern development frameworks are performant. Deploying and integrating moderate and complex web application packages with internal insurance applications and external third-party data providers. Providing technical subject matter expertise as part of the development/configuration team. Contributing to the implementation of standards and guidelines that influence the design of technology solutions. Regularly updating DevOps systems with work item status and provide input into work effort estimation. Identifying and mitigating risks and issues through SDLC process and escalating to product owner, scrum master, project manager, or technical leads as required. Managing configuration change promotion, reviewing dependencies, and ensuring that change management procedures are followed. Communicating with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Business Systems Analysts and Testers to understand business and technical requirements, answer questions/clarifications and facilitate comprehensive test plans. Handling production issues and troubleshooting to resolve and identify root causes. Staying up to date on the technology landscape including open source, commercial on-premise, and cloud-based tools.

What You Bring

• Minimum of three years of relevant development experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
• Insurance domain experience is required, preferably with knowledge of policy, claims, billing, and underwriting processes.
• Working knowledge of current Low Code/No Code, configurable SaaS, or workflow platforms, such as Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps/Power Automate), Appian, Mendix, OutSystems, Pega, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Unqork, or similar platforms. Experience with Origami Risk is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, C#, HTML, CSS, SQL, REST & SOAP API integration
• Training on Origami and/or prior Origami project work are big pluses but not required
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
• Prior experience with Azure DevOps or similar DevOps environment is preferred.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• Incredible attention to detail and organizational skills

Pay Transparency

The pay range for this position is $91,900 - $126,400 annually, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
