Housekeeping Supervisor

Carlow University invites applications for a full-time Housekeeping Supervisor. The Housekeeping Supervisor supervises the work activities of Housekeeper 1, 2, and 3 staff to ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive atmosphere throughout the University. The Housekeeping Supervisor assigns duties, inspects work, investigates complaints regarding housekeeping services and equipment, and takes corrective action. The Housekeeping Supervisor purchases housekeeping supplies and equipment, takes inventories as needed, and trains new employees.

Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Supervisor will:

• Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency of the housekeeping staff.
• Consult, supervise, and work with staff to improve housekeeping services.
• Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Policies with the Facilities Management team.
• Perform daily housekeeping inspections on all housekeeping staff to verify they are completing their daily job responsibilities.
• Assist the assigned Housekeeper 3 in charge of inventory to order supplies needed and ensure that the inventory being kept onsite is sufficient.
• Manage all campus events for housekeeping, including:
• Create and maintain the events schedule for setups and teardowns.
• Assign Housekeepers to perform setups and teardowns for each event.
• Assign and close out all event and general housekeeping work orders to staff.
• Attend the Events Committee weekly meeting.
• Work with the Facilities Management team in creating a capital budget for housekeeping equipment.
• Oversee critical housekeeping initiatives during certain University closures.
• Assist the cost center owner in creating an operating budget for housekeeping supplies and/or other needs.
• Train Housekeepers on cleaning and maintenance tasks for Housekeeper 3.
• Respond to customer complaints and special requests.
• Participate in large cleaning projects as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas.
• Work with Facilities Management and Residence Life to coordinate, schedule, and manage all dorm room cleans.
• Schedule and manage all floor care projects and associated floor care maintenance.
• Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Carlow University seeks an individual with the following qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Two or more years of work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Preferred knowledge of supervising in a union environment.
• Excellent organizational and team management skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and University Holidays.
