Position Details Maintenance Mechanic - H R17 Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs approximately 2,700 staff and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations across the State of New Jersey, including planning, construction, facilities, public safety, environmental health, transportation, housing and auxiliary/retail operations. Posting Summary / Responsibilities Under the direction of a foreperson, perform a wide range of mechanical maintenance duties required to repair university equipment and bring it to good operating condition. In the absence of the authorized lead, may estimate workforce and material needs and coordinate group work. May provide guidance for craft trainees. Qualifications High school or vocational school education or equivalent plus three years of experience performing mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial-type motors and pumps. Successful completion of an approved training program or certified apprenticeship in the trade may substitute for the above experience. Valid driver's license with two years driving experience. Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course. Must be competent in performing complex and varied mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial-type motors and pumps (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.).
