This role supports a busy local pharmacy by accurately processing prescriptions, coordinating with healthcare providers and insurance companies, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. The pharmacy technician ensures prescriptions are entered, filled, and managed efficiently while maintaining inventory control and contributing to a supportive, team-oriented workplace.

• Communicate professionally with physician offices to clarify and verify prescription information.
• Coordinate with insurance companies to process claims, resolve issues, and support prior authorization requests.
• Accurately input electronic and hard copy prescriptions into the pharmacy system.
• Fill prescriptions with precision, ensuring correct medication, dosage, and labeling.
• Manually process prescription orders as needed to support daily workflow.
• Perform data entry for prescription orders and related patient information with a high level of accuracy.
• Handle a high daily prescription volume, contributing to processing approximately 500 prescriptions per day, with 250–300 processed during the busier back half of the day.
• Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ensuring items are on order, and checking in orders upon arrival.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to patients and caregivers in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient operations and consistent service quality.
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and continuous activity throughout the day.
• Participate in training and ongoing learning to understand pharmacy procedures, systems, and best practices.

• At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail pharmacy environment.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy setting.
• Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience processing prescriptions, including electronic and hard copy inputs.
• Familiarity with insurance claim processing and coordination.
• Customer service experience in a healthcare or retail environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy under time pressure.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, physician offices, and insurance companies.
• Basic understanding of healthcare and pharmacy operations.
• Ability to work full-time within the specified shift hours.

• Experience using RX30 pharmacy software.
• Experience with prior authorization processes and insurance claim resolution.
• Previous experience in a local or community pharmacy setting.
• Comfort working in a collaborative team environment where cross-training and shared responsibilities are common.
• Certification as a pharmacy technician is not required but related training or coursework is beneficial.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems, workflows, and procedures with guidance from experienced team members.

This position is based in a local pharmacy, primarily working in the closed-door section where there is constant activity and a steady workflow. The pharmacy processes a high volume of prescriptions each day, creating a dynamic environment where there is always something to work on. You will never work alone; there is always at least one other team member on shift, and the team culture emphasizes support, collaboration, and learning. The owner is actively involved in day-to-day operations, and the team consists of approximately 35 employees, including about 15 full-time and 20 part-time staff members. Scheduling is organized and transparent, with the monthly schedule posted on the 15th of each month. The lead technician is described as very accommodating, provided there is clear communication about scheduling needs. This is a full-time role with typical shifts from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Initial training for the first few weeks is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and task-focused, with an expectation of professionalism and appropriate attire suitable for a retail pharmacy setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westfield, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
