Certified Peer Support Specialist

Certified Peer Support Specialist

Essential job functions include sharing mental health stories through lived experience, co-facilitating recovery goals, integrating physical and mental health care, developing wellness plans, advocating for self-directed care, facilitating support groups, providing supportive services during and after crises, supporting beneficiaries in completing psychiatric advance directives, assisting in accessing benefits, navigating complex systems of care, linking beneficiaries to community resources, assisting with vocational support, promoting whole health and self-management of chronic conditions, providing housing assistance, engaging with individuals with criminal justice involvement, applying and modeling the five stages of recovery, attending team meetings, promoting individual decision-making, participating in person-centered planning, teaching recovery and coping techniques, attending agency in-services, reporting and documenting service activity, and demonstrating knowledge of trauma informed care.

Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, having a high school diploma or equivalent, a primary diagnosis of a mental health condition, strong personal knowledge of lived experience with a mental health condition, being a recipient of mental health treatment for at least one year, personal experience in navigating complex mental health treatment services, and self-identifying as having a mental health condition with a substantial life disruption.
