Join a growing team as a Fire Alarm Installer responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems in a variety of environments, including construction and retrofit projects. You will use your electrical or low-voltage background to install conduit, pull cable, terminate devices, and ensure systems operate safely and reliably in commercial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service commercial fire alarm systems on construction and retrofit projects.
• Bend, install, and secure conduit, with a preference for EMT conduit installations.
• Pull and route wire and cable in commercial environments, ensuring neat and code-compliant installations.
• Install, connect, and terminate fire alarm devices, including pull stations, horns, strobes, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and control panels.
• Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics to plan and execute installations accurately.
• Perform system testing and verification to confirm proper operation of all fire alarm components and circuits.
• Troubleshoot wiring, devices, and fire alarm system issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Work with fire alarm systems from various manufacturers such as Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, EST, and FireLite, as applicable.
• Use ladders, lifts, and hand and power tools safely and effectively during installation and service activities.
• Follow all safety procedures on active construction sites and in occupied facilities, including consistent use of required PPE.
• Collaborate with other trades and site personnel to coordinate work and maintain project schedules.
• Document work performed, including test results and any issues identified or resolved.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, electrical, or a related field.
• Strong background in electrical or low-voltage systems, particularly in commercial applications.
• Proficiency bending and installing conduit, with EMT conduit experience preferred.
• Experience pulling and routing cable and wire in commercial environments.
• Hands-on experience installing and terminating fire alarm devices, including initiating devices, notification appliances, and control equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics accurately.
• Familiarity with commercial construction sites and related work practices.
• Experience troubleshooting fire alarm systems and resolving wiring and device issues.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
• Comfort working with hand and power tools, including those commonly used for electrical and low-voltage installations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to installing systems that meet code and safety requirements.
• Safety-oriented mindset with consistent adherence to jobsite safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• NICET certification in fire alarm systems (preferred but not required).
• OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training.
• Experience working with fire alarm system manufacturers such as Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, EST, or FireLite.
• Prior experience on a variety of commercial projects, including schools, hospitals, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, and other commercial construction sites.
• Low-voltage installation experience beyond fire alarms, including alarms and related systems.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment

This role is based primarily on active commercial construction sites and in existing facilities such as manufacturing plants, schools, hospitals, and office buildings. You will work in both indoor and outdoor environments as needed, often in areas under construction or renovation. The position requires regular use of ladders, lifts, and a variety of hand and power tools. A strong safety orientation is essential, and you must consistently wear required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, and a safety vest. Work conditions may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures typical of construction and industrial settings, and may require standing, climbing, and working at heights for extended periods.

This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
