Reports To: Director of Transportation

Certification: CDL License with passenger endorsement

Assistance and training is provided for eligible applicants

Requirements:

• Physical examination with drug and alcohol testing
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Complete eight (8) hour course required by State of Illinois

Terms of Employment: 174 Days - School Year (Summer School Hours Available as well)

Start Date: ASAP

Minimum Qualifications/Required Skills:

• Operate a vehicle in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and McHenry Transportation Department procedure
• Provide safe transportation to and from school for all children
• Responsible for passenger management and timely reporting of incidents, accidents and student conduct reports
• Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping
• Identify transportation hazards and promptly report
• Comply with established schedules, observes traffic ordinances, and be constantly aware of the safety needs of students
• Maintains and demonstrates a helpful, positive and pleasant attitude toward fellow co-workers, other school district employees and the general public
• Communicate professionally and effectively with school personnel, students, parents and the general public
• Demonstrate proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus
• Drive all vehicles and routes as determined by the transportation director or designee

Pay and Benefits:

• Starting rate $22.25/hour; minimum 5 hours a day guaranteed
• Additional compensation can be provided for prior bus driver experience and valid CDL license
• Eligible for Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension (IMRF Pension)
