Trade Counsel

Entrusted Advisors is actively expanding our bench of Trade Counsel to support our global clients. This is an exciting opportunity for attorneys with broad experience in international trade, customs, and export controls to support sophisticated in-house legal teams and drive critical business initiatives on a flexible secondment basis.

About the Role

\n

Attorneys on our bench may be engaged to provide support for:

\n

\n
• Advising on U.S. export controls under the EAR and ITAR, including classification, licensing, and end-use/end-user screening
\n
• Guiding compliance with economic sanctions programs administered by OFAC, as well as EU, UK, and other multilateral sanctions regimes
\n
• Advising on customs and import matters, including tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, duty mitigation, and CBP compliance
\n
• Navigating Section 232, Section 301, IEEPA, and other tariff actions, including exclusion requests and supply chain impact analysis
\n
• Supporting free trade agreement qualification and compliance (USMCA and other FTAs)
\n
• Conducting internal investigations, voluntary self-disclosures, and responses to government inquiries
\n
• Developing, implementing, and auditing trade compliance programs, policies, and training
\n
• Reviewing trade-related provisions in commercial agreements, M&A due diligence, and CFIUS matters
\n
• Collaborating with supply chain, logistics, procurement, and outside counsel on specialized regulatory matters
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• 8+ years of experience advising on international trade and regulatory compliance, including significant experience as part of a corporate in-house legal team
\n
• In-depth knowledge of export control, sanctions, and customs regulatory frameworks (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, CBP)
\n
• Strong familiarity with the evolving tariff landscape and its impact on global supply chains
\n
• Exceptional analytical, drafting, and advisory skills
\n
• Ability to work independently, provide practical business-aligned advice, and integrate seamlessly with client teams
\n
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
\n
