Position Type: Classroom Elementary & Secondary Teaching Date Posted: 12/2/2025 Location: TBD Closing Date: Open Until Filled Teacher – Career and Technology Education (CTE) – Education and Training (High School) Reports to: Principal Salary: Teacher Salary Schedule Duty Days: 187 FLSA Status: Exempt Position Purpose Delivers rigorous instruction to students in order to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth; ensures that, regardless of socioeconomic factors, every child is prepared for accelerated learning to compete in a global economy. Provides standards‑based, data‑driven, differentiated instruction that engages students. Creates a safe, supportive learning environment to maximize student learning. Instructional Planning & Delivery Teaches knowledge and skill concepts in accordance with the required Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, District curricula, and industry standards. Designs clear, well‑organized, sequential lessons that build on students’ prior knowledge; provides opportunities for enrichment, differentiation, and project‑based learning to foster collaboration, creative thinking, and extended interaction among students. Creates developmentally appropriate, standards‑driven lessons that reflect evidence‑based best practices. Develops lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, adapting methods as needed. Communicates clearly and accurately; engages students in a manner that encourages persistence and best effort. Promotes complex, higher‑order thinking, leading class discussions and activities that provide deeper learning opportunities. Ensures student understanding through consistent monitoring, immediate feedback, and lesson adjustments as appropriate. Assesses and documents student mastery of curriculum objectives and progress using frequent, appropriate, ongoing assessment tools; employs interventions and formal/informal assessment procedures, including standardized tests, formative assessments, performance tasks, enrichment, and observations. Instructs students in the proper use and care of professional equipment, technology, and other materials. Prepares students for industry certification exams within the program focus, administers exams, and provides remediation to those who are not successful. Knowledge of Students & Student Learning Reinforces belief that all students can achieve at high levels; supports all students in social‑emotional learning and academic success. Acquires, analyzes, and uses background information such as familial, cultural, educational, linguistic, and developmental characteristics to engage students in learning. Facilitates each student’s learning by employing evidence‑based practices and concepts related to learning and social‑emotional development. Content Knowledge & Expertise Understands major concepts, key themes, perspectives, assumptions, inquiry processes, structure, and real‑world applications of assigned grade‑level and subject‑area content. Designs and executes quality lessons consistent with disciplinary concepts; aligns to state standards and demonstrates content expertise. Demonstrates content‑specific pedagogy that meets the needs of diverse learners using engaging instructional materials to connect prior knowledge to new learning. Learning Environment Creates a mutually respectful, collaborative, and safe community of learners using understanding of student development and backgrounds. Establishes, implements, and communicates consistent routines for effective classroom management, including clear behavior expectations. Leads and maintains an actively engaged classroom indicated by students’ motivation and on‑task behavior. Executes and continues appropriate student‑centered discipline techniques and effective classroom management strategies to maximize learning and time‑on‑task; ensures compliance with school standards and district policies. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies; maintains inventory records and ensures equipment is functional. Data‑Driven Practice Implements formal and informal methods of measuring student progress. Sets individual and group learning goals by using preliminary data; communicates these goals with students and families to ensure mutual understanding. Collects, reviews, and analyzes data to monitor progress on a regular basis. Accesses collected data to inform instructional strategies and adjust short‑ and long‑term plans. Administers and proctors relevant course assessments and industry certification exams in line with district policies. Professional Practices & Responsibilities Serves as an advisor for co‑curricular activities and engages students with professional associations related to their career pathway. Ensures students understand future coursework requirements and are aware of program of study opportunities at feeder campuses and across the district. Monitors classroom and online instruction, activities, grades, and projects. Reflects on teaching practice to improve effectiveness; engages in continuous professional learning. Collaborates with colleagues, including those at feeder campuses; demonstrates self‑awareness in interactions. Invites constructive feedback from peers and administrators. Seeks leadership opportunities for students, educators, and community members inside and beyond the classroom. Models ethical and respectful behavior; demonstrates integrity. Stays current on state and industry requirements; updates stakeholders of changes. Shared Responsibilities Upholds accurate and efficient record‑keeping of attendance, grades, assessment preparation, travel paperwork, work‑based learning documentation, and other required documents. Engages parents and families in academic and behavioral progress through conferences and continuous support opportunities. Participates in faculty and committee meetings, school events, and related activities during and after school hours as required. Works with counselors and students to verify schedules, 6‑year plans, and portfolios, ensuring they remain accurate and support graduation requirements. Safety Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensures equipment is safe. Follows established safety procedures during job duties, including lifting, climbing, drills, and lockdowns; operates tools safely. Corrects unsafe conditions and reports non‑repairable issues promptly to the supervisor. Observes student behavior outside classroom at designated times and takes action when appropriate. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of federal and state laws, guidelines, district policies, educational students, CTE teaching methods, differentiation of instruction, content facts and industry standards. Knowledge of data systems, analysis, and action planning. Knowledge of advising, preparing students for CTSO participation. Knowledge of equipment and software used within the field. Skill in lesson planning with multiple teachers and in delivering professional learning. Skill in communicating effectively with others. Ability to support office personnel, parents, and students in district programs. Ability to organize and coordinate work in collaborative teams. Ability to conduct conferences with teachers, parents, and students. Ability to establish and maintain community relationships for program improvement and student employment. Ability to use software for databases, email, spreadsheets, and word processing. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to self‑evaluate for performance and professional growth. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others involved in the work. Travel Requirements Travels to district buildings and professional meetings as required. Travels to student workplaces, industry partners, professional development, competitions, skill training, and vendor locations as needed. Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards Tools/Equipment Used : Standard office equipment, computers, peripherals, and instructional equipment such as interactive screens. Posture : Prolonged standing; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, twisting. Motion : Repetitive hand motions, keyboarding, mouse use; occasional reaching; frequent walking. Lifting : Frequent light lifting ( Vision : Performs tasks requiring close vision. Environment : Works inside and occasionally outside; classroom/lab environment; exposure to noise; frequent speaking and listening; occasional irregular or prolonged hours. Attendance : Regular and punctual attendance required. Mental Demands : Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions. Minimum Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Major in Education or a related field preferred. Certification/License Teaching Certification Required. Valid Texas Teaching Certification in Technology Applications, Technology Education, or Trade and Industrial Education with appropriate work experience. Alternatively, acceptance in an approved Alternative Certification Program with prerequisite examinations passed for subject area and grade‑level. Experience At least five years of teaching experience preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations preferred. Additional Requirements Operates program‑specific equipment in a lab setting. Works in a standard classroom or lab; lifts tools and equipment.
