Job Overview

• Salary/Pay Rate: $78,000–$82,000 per year
• Location: Middlesex, VT
• Work Arrangement: Onsite. Approximately 70% of the role is office-based in Middlesex, VT, with up to 30% travel to job sites.

The Opportunity

Kingsbury Companies is seeking an experienced HR Specialist to support and strengthen the people practices behind a growing heavy civil construction organization.

This position will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, performance management, compensation, and HR compliance.

The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on HR experience, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance employee support with the operational needs of a growing construction company.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Serve as the internal liaison with recruiting partners and support hiring activities across the organization.
• Coordinate and support employee onboarding to create a consistent and positive experience for new hires.
• Administer training, professional-development, and workforce-development initiatives.
• Provide day-to-day employee-relations support while handling sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
• Support performance-review processes and help managers navigate performance and development conversations.
• Assist with compensation benchmarking, pay-equity reviews, and related workforce planning.
• Help resolve workplace concerns and conflicts while promoting effective communication between employees and leadership.
• Support diversity, equity, inclusion, workforce-development, and employee-engagement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with applicable employment laws, company policies, HR practices, and documentation requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of professional Human Resources experience.
• Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and HR best practices.
• Experience supporting employee onboarding, training, and professional development.
• Experience handling employee-relations matters with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships with employees, managers, leadership, and external partners.
• Ability to work effectively in an onsite environment and travel to job sites as needed.
• Must currently live within commuting distance of Middlesex, VT, or be willing to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• HR experience within construction, heavy civil, skilled trades, or another field-based workforce environment.
• Experience with compensation benchmarking, pay equity, and workforce planning.
• Experience supporting performance management, career development, mentorship, or succession-planning programs.
• Experience with diversity, equity, inclusion, or workforce-development initiatives.
• SHRM-CP, PHR, or another recognized HR certification.
