Job Description Job Overview The Safety Advocate will work closely with the site EHS Manager to ensure a safe and incident free work environment. The Safety Advocate will coordinate with the EHS Manager to monitor and evaluate health and safety conditions, assure compliance with policies, procedures and standards for the site. Job Duties:
- Guide and coordinate safety teams and committees to engage site personnel
- Coordinate safety meetings on a quarterly basis
- Coordinate Safety programs to train employees in work site safety by promoting and leading to a site culture where safety is engrained as a core value
- Assist with facilitation of training during the employee onboarding process and other annual trainings
- Collaborates with employees to identify and implement solutions to safety issues
- Assists EHS Manager with reporting, data, and compliance related activities to ensure compliance to applicable standards
- Provides support on other EHS functions such as worker's compensation, training and reporting activities
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts for existing safety programs
- Assist with generation of new safety systems and programs such as directive ownership, GEMBA, and behavior-based safety.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Associates degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safely
- Regular attendance.
- Frequent interaction with others.
- Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.
- Prior experience using Microsoft Office required.
- Shows problem solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Lean manufacturing experience desirable.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
- Frequent use of wrist and hands
- Frequent stepping up and down from platforms
- Work on computers for extended periods of time.
