Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technician functions as an integral part of the perioperative team. They serve as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. This role is crucial in delivering safe and effective care to patients during the intraoperative period. The Surgical Technician applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to maintain a sterile environment. They demonstrate competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and appropriate knowledge base. Age-specific care is provided to obstetrical patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role involves assisting in the organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost-effective department. Maintaining a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self is essential. The technician demonstrates awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements. They charge for equipment and supplies as needed. Participation in room turnover and setup is a key aspect of the role. The Surgical Technician maintains and cleans equipment, identifying items needing repair as per policy. They effectively perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads according to policy.

Experience: 1+ years of surgical tech experience required License: BLS (American Heart Association) Certifications: IDPH Fingerprinting required

Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM, Wednesdays off; On Call 4x/week) Start Date: 08/31/2026 End Date: 11/28/2026
