Position Overview

This role is for an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level, playing a crucial part in delivering compassionate, patient-focused care. The position demands advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and excellent outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead coordination of the healthcare team to provide safe, timely, and equitable care tailored to each patient.
• Perform thorough assessments to identify individual patient needs and develop personalized care plans.
• Monitor patient responses to interventions and ensure prompt follow-up.
• Advocate for patients, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care delivered by the team and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
• Promote evidence-based practices within emergency care.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control and institutional policies.
• Strictly follow aseptic techniques and regulatory standards including OSHA and The Joint Commission guidelines.
• Identify and report safety concerns, actively participating in systemic improvements.
• Accurately record care activities, interventions, patient progress, and incidents in electronic medical records.
• Mentor and precept new nurses and students, supporting their growth.
• Engage in ongoing education, certifications, and quality improvement projects.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices within the emergency department.
• Perform triage, charge nurse, and MICN duties as needed.
• Respond decisively and skillfully in critical situations such as cardiac arrest, maintaining composure under pressure.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in an emergency department or acute care setting; urgent care experience may be considered.
• Proven ability to manage complex clinical cases.

Competencies

• Proficient with advanced critical care equipment and technology.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology related to critical care.
• Excellent critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years emergency room experience may be accepted.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the relevant state.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications from recognized organizations.
• Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or equivalent, with requirement to obtain within 90 days if not currently held.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or equivalent certification preferred.
