Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our CHS Primeland business unit. We are looking for a Retail Area Manager to lead our retail teams at store locations throughout the west Idaho area. This role will manage and oversee all retail operations activities and ensure that all operations functions are performed in a timely, cost-effective manner consistent with established operations procedures and requirements. You must have strong analytical, organizational and people management skills; as well as excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels is also required, as is an ability to be highly resourceful and flexible, with a commitment to excellence, integrity and high standards.
This role will be based out of an office in Lewiston, ID.

Responsibilities
- Manage overall retail operations within the business unit, including 3 farms stores, 1 convenience store, and the possibility to oversee more
- Develop, implement, and monitor the department P&L to meet or exceed profitability targets.
- Monitor and analyze business trends across all stores.
- Plan, organize, and direct all retail, purchasing, distribution and warehouse activities to meet or exceed established goals.
- Recruit, hire, retain and develop a team of Store Supervisors and support staff that achieves excellence in all areas of measured performance to meet or exceed company business objectives; drive business through effective scheduling and payroll management.
- Cultivate a positive, motivated and customer-focused employee environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership.
- Coach store teams to develop and maintain operational best practices in the areas of stock flow, floor presentation, asset protection, facilities maintenance, and merchandise functions (price changes, transfers, damages, etc.).
- Develop, implement and maintain consistent employee training, sales programs, marketing strategies and capital projects to build and maintain a cohesive and strong brand presence across all locations.
- Ensure all corporate policy, local, state, and federal government regulations are adhered to and required compliance documentation is complete. Maintain and promote an uncompromising safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience in Retail and/or Retail Merchandising and Customer Service
- Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
- Ability to travel based on business needs
Additional Qualifications
- High level product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: convenience store products, livestock or equine products, lawn and garden supplies, hardware, fencing, pet feed and supplies or any related retail knowledge
- Proficient in MS Office suite
