Registered Nurse (RN)

Per Diem Hourly Rate: $33-38 per hour
Location: Philadelphia, PA; Onsite – School Setting

Position Summary
RCM is seeking PRN (per diem) RNs to work with our district partners in the Philadelphia area for this school year and beyond!
The School Nurse will provide medical care to students in a safe, supportive, and positive school climate. Achieving excellence requires the School Nurse to work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents. The School Nurse is also responsible for complying with state-mandated reporting requirements regarding office visits, physicals, dispensing medication, and student attendance. The School Nurse will also accompany students on various field trips as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Follow state mandated reporting requirements regarding office visits, physicals, dispensation of medicine, and student attendance.
• Provides health counseling for students, parents, and school staff aimed at encouraging students to take responsibility for their health care.
• Interprets the assessed health status to students, their parents, and school personnel, and other appropriately concerned parties
• Counsels students and concerned parties in planning action for dealing with health problems that interfere with effective learning, refers students and parents to community sources of health care, counseling, and financial assistance; conducts follow-up procedures to ascertain that students are receiving recommended treatment.
• Provides specialized nursing care for students with chronic conditions who may require procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, and tracheostomy care; oversees the activities of ancillary personnel.
• Maintains and conducts the school health room; provides care in case of illness or injury; provides treatment in accordance with standing medical orders; advocates for a safe school environment; is alert to possible health and safety hazards.
• Maintains comprehensive health records for each student, including findings of screenings and examinations; management of health problems; records health program data for evaluation, research, and continuity of school nursing services
• Maintains a viable health communications network; functions as a member of an interdisciplinary school team, including principals, counselors, and teachers
• Accompanies student (s) on various field trips on an as needed basis

Licenses & Certifications

• • Active RN License in PA (Required)
  • Act 126 - Mandated Reporter Training – completed
  • Act 114 FBI Fingerprinting with UEID
  • Act 34 FBI Federal Criminal History Record
  • Act 151PA Child Abuse History Clearance - have or willing to complete ASAP
  • PA Federal Criminal History Record Information – have or willing to complete ASAP
  • Past or present school-based experience
