RCF DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL I

Overview This role operates in a Residential Care Facility (RCF) Setting , which is a type of facility that provides services for people with mental illness and other disabilities (Iowa Health & Human Services). RCF settings offer individuals the opportunity to live and receive services in a way that honors their abilities. RCF Direct Support Professionals are the heartbeat of Imagine the Possibilities – empowering people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life. As an integral part of the care team, you will collaborate with other Direct Support Professionals, Programmers, Supervisors, individuals served, and their families to ensure the best possible care. You will fulfill an individual’s behavioral care plan by creatively strategizing the best way for each individual to reach and exceed their goals. In this role, you’ll be responsible to: Responsibilities Goal Development & Person-Centered Support: Collaborate with supervisors and programmers to develop individualized goals and provide direct support focused on teaching skills, promoting independence, and encouraging participation in community and recreational activities. Behavioral & Rights-Based Support: Implement approved behavioral strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviors while ensuring rights restrictions are only applied when determined by the interdisciplinary team and included in service plans. Accurate Documentation & Compliance: Complete timely, detailed, and Iowa Code–compliant documentation in Setworks, ensuring all required service information, interventions, and individual responses are accurately recorded with proper formatting and attention to detail. Direct Support, Safety & Advocacy: Provide respectful, least-restrictive support in home and community settings while ensuring safety, protecting personal property, encouraging choice, and advocating for individual independence and self-determination. Scheduling, Communication & Professional Responsibility: Maintain reliable attendance by following call-in procedures, securing coverage when needed, and working assigned shifts; follow agency policies, report concerns appropriately, maintain flexibility, and complete required trainings. Scheduling: We’re a 24/7 service provider, offering schedules based on program needs. Training: This is an entry-level position, and comprehensive training is provided. Driver’s License: Ability to transport for service provision as needed. Educational Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent. Work Authorization: Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Physical Demands TB testing in compliance with CDC guidelines and State recommendations. May require lifting up to 35 pounds; lifting over 35 pounds may require a two-person lift or assistive equipment. Prolonged sitting and computer work up to eight hours; frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. Prolonged standing up to eight hours. Required PPE in specific areas (hearing and eye protection as applicable). Ability to see objects at distance and up close; ability to hear in quiet and noisy environments. Ability to communicate through speech and to drive/transport for service provision as needed. Must remain awake during working hours, if applicable.
