Activities Assistant

Job Location: 5871 Harbour View Boulevard, Suffolk, Virginia 23435 Responsibilities Assist the Life Enrichment Director in designing, creating, initiating, facilitating, and implementing a wide variety of multi‑level meaningful recreational and educational programs for Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) neighborhoods. Develop, plan, and implement a monthly program of activities and supplies based on dimensions of wellness—Movement & Motion, Curiosity & Culture, Feelings & Fellowship, Clarity & Purpose, Compassion & Connection, Leadership & Volunteerism—Harmony signature programs, and person‑centered interests. Lead 6–7 high‑quality programs per day. Survey and interview residents to complete the Resident Life Profile, assess past and present interests and talents, and gauge satisfaction with community programs and activities. Partner and coordinate with the entire program team (Life Enrichment Director, Home Services Director, and Home Services Assistants) to complete planning forms, organize supplies, and schedule the monthly calendar of events and outings. Develop relationships with residents and families to encourage participation and promote high satisfaction with programs and events. Document and maintain all required records. Assist in organizing and attending resident council meetings. Organize, maintain, and stage programming areas and supplies neatly. Recruit, coordinate, and oversee a robust volunteer program. Promote programs by preparing and posting daily notices and posters as required. Arrange chairs, tables, sporting or exercise equipment, and return to normal structure when completed. Provide resident transportation to groceries, shopping, leisure activities, physician appointments, and off‑site outings, ensuring safe coordination for participants. Qualifications High school diploma and/or relevant experience; subject to state requirements. Entry‑level position with 1–3 years of experience highly desired. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Flexible, consistent, imaginative, engaging, and passionate about working with seniors. Experience organizing, conducting, and planning programs and activities. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Good physical condition; able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.
