Plater Helper in Commerce, CA — $18.99–$23.00/hr DOE, 2nd shift, contract-to-hire. Prepare aerospace components and support plating and metal finishing operations.

Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Location: Commerce, CA 90040 (on-site)

ABOUT THE ROLE

A stable shop, a steady schedule, and a path to permanent for the people who prove out.

You'll help prepare precision aerospace components for plating, support plating technicians, and inspect finished parts before they move to the next operation. The work includes cleaning, masking, racking, and handling parts through electroplating, anodizing, chemical conversion coating, and other surface finishing processes.

This is hands-on work around chemical tanks and production equipment. Expect extended standing, repetitive hand movements, lifting up to 50 pounds, and varying temperatures, heat, and humidity. Written processing instructions and chemical handling procedures must be followed every time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Prepare components for plating by cleaning, degreasing, masking, racking, and inspecting their surfaces

- Load and unload components from plating racks and fixtures

- Assist technicians with electroplating, anodizing, chemical conversion coating, and surface finishing

- Monitor plating tanks and chemical processing equipment under established instructions

- Help maintain chemical bath levels, pH, temperature, and solution concentrations

- Inspect completed parts for finish quality and compliance with specifications

- Follow work orders, routers, blueprints, process sheets, and manufacturing instructions, and complete production and quality records

- Handle chemicals and hazardous materials according to OSHA requirements and company procedures

WHAT YOU NEED

- Able to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation

- Able to follow written work instructions and chemical handling and safety procedures

- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plating processes

- Able to inspect parts carefully and document work accurately

- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

- Able to work safely around chemicals, processing tanks, and production equipment while wearing required PPE

NICE TO HAVE

- Manufacturing or production experience

- Aerospace manufacturing or metal finishing experience

- Electroplating, anodizing, chemical processing, or surface treatment experience

- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and hazardous material handling

- Plating or chemical processing certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lift and move up to 50 pounds. Stand for extended periods, with frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements while preparing, racking, loading, and inspecting parts. Work safely around chemical tanks and production equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Aerospace manufacturing and plating facility with chemical processing tanks, metal finishing equipment, industrial chemicals, noise, moving equipment, heat, humidity, airborne particles, and varying temperatures. PPE is required and provided, and all plant safety procedures apply.
