Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and performance of Fletco's construction operations across active projects. Reporting to the COO, this role provides oversight and support to Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and to Fletco's standards for quality and client service.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands both the field and the business of construction. The Operations Manager will help teams anticipate and resolve challenges, strengthen consistency across project delivery, coordinate resources and priorities, and develop the people and processes needed to support Fletco's continued growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations & Project Performance

• Oversee construction operations across active projects, maintaining visibility into schedules, staffing, financial performance, and operational risks.
• Lead, support, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams.
• Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress, support project teams, and proactively address issues.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources across projects based on company priorities.
• Lead regular operations meetings focused on project status, schedules, risks, staffing, and upcoming needs.
• Reinforce consistent expectations for project planning, documentation, communication, and project controls.

Financial, Schedule & Contract Oversight

• Monitor project budgets, costs, forecasts, change orders, productivity, and overall profitability.
• Review project cost reports and financial performance with Project Managers and leadership.
• Support effective contract administration, change management, pay applications, and project closeout.
• Maintain portfolio-level visibility into project schedules, milestones, and potential delays.
• Work with project teams to identify risks early and develop practical solutions that minimize schedule, cost, and client impacts.

Safety, Quality & Team Development

• Champion Fletco's commitment to safety, quality, and consistent project execution.
• Reinforce compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project-specific safety expectations.
• Establish clear expectations and accountability while coaching and developing operations personnel.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and development of operations staff.
• Foster collaboration between field teams, project management, preconstruction, accounting, and leadership.

Preconstruction, Clients & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with the Director of Preconstruction on constructability, scheduling, logistics, staffing, and project turnover.
• Serve as a senior operational resource for clients and help resolve significant project or subcontractor issues.
• Build productive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, consistency, efficiency, and communication.
• Promote effective use of company systems, technology, and standardized workflows as Fletco continues to grow.

Required Qualifications

• 8–12 years of progressive commercial construction experience, including project management and/or field operations.
• Experience leading multiple construction projects, project teams, or an operations function.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, contracts, budgets, project controls, and closeout.
• Experience evaluating project financial performance, including budgets, cost reports, forecasts, change orders, and profitability.
• Experience leading and developing Project Managers, Superintendents, and/or field personnel.
• Strong understanding of construction safety and quality management practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout Central and West Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, General Superintendent, or similar construction leadership role.
• Experience with Procore, Sage 100, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience improving construction operations, processes, systems, or technology within a growing organization.
