Electrical Inspector

Job Title: Electrical Inspector Location: Huntsville, AL Job Type: Full-Time; Exempt Reports to: Quality Manager Job Summary The Electrical Inspector at Sun Test Systems is responsible for inspecting electrical assemblies, wiring, panels, components, and completed systems to ensure compliance with applicable drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and customer requirements. This role involves verifying proper installation, testing electrical continuity and functionality, identifying nonconformances, and documenting inspection results. The Electrical Inspector plays a key role in ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance throughout incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities. This position also supports corrective actions, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to uphold company and customer expectations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Perform inspections of electrical assemblies, wire harnesses, control panels, and completed systems during incoming, in-process, and final stages. Verify electrical work complies with engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and work instructions. Inspect routing, termination, labeling, torque, crimping, bonding, grounding, and overall workmanship of electrical components and assemblies. Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, continuity testers, insulation resistance testers, and other inspection tools to verify conformance. Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials, components, and workmanship issues. Ensure completed assemblies meet customer, contract, and internal quality requirements prior to release. Work closely with production, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve inspection findings and improve product quality. Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and supporting documentation. Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions related to electrical defects or failures. Support internal audits and quality assurance activities as required. Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and applicable industry standards. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Must be a U.S. citizen or legal ability to work in the US and meet any other federal program requirements. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documents. Knowledge of electrical inspection methods, workmanship standards, and quality control principles. Experience using electrical and mechanical measuring and test equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and nonconformances. Ability to document inspection results clearly and accurately. Basic computer skills for reporting, recordkeeping, and data entry. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment. Experience with military, government, or DoD electrical inspection requirements preferred. Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, or other applicable electrical workmanship standards preferred. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 4 years of related electrical inspection, electrical assembly, or quality inspection experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in engineering or manufacturing sectors supporting the federal government or DoD preferred.
