Manufacturing EngineerInstron is seeking a driven and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to support our Binghamton, NY facility, home to advanced CNC machining, product assembly, and system integration operations.In this role, you will play a key part in both new product introduction (NPI) and ongoing production support, helping deliver high-quality precision instruments and sophisticated testing systems. You will collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to improve processes, solve complex problems, and drive operational excellence.This position will be onsite only at our Binghamton, NY facilityWhat You Will DoFunction as the primary manufacturing liaison between Engineering and Production, supporting NPI and sustaining engineering effortsCollaborate on product development by providing manufacturability input, part setup guidance, and production planning supportDrive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost optimizationTroubleshoot and resolve machining and mechanical assembly challenges with practical, data-driven solutionsDesign and document fixtures, tooling, and gages to support machining, inspection, and assembly operationsDevelop and refine material specifications for machined components to optimize manufacturabilityPartner with CNC programmers to support print interpretation, CAD model accuracy, and process executionCreate and maintain setup sheets, work instructions, quality control plans, and test proceduresSupport training initiatives for production teams across machining and assembly functionsWork closely with Quality and Design Engineering to address non-conformances using corrective and preventive actionsAssist with facility layout planning, equipment installation, and process flow optimizationHelp develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing equipmentApply ITW Toolbox and lean methodologies to drive measurable process improvementsWhat You BringRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial EngineeringA minimum of six to eight plus years of hands-on experience in a machining and/or mechanical assembly environmentWorking knowledge of machining processes: turning, milling, drilling, and grindingFamiliarity with metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, CMMs)CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software)Understanding of GD&T, product lifecycle management (PLM), and engineering documentationPreferred SkillsExperience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, ITW Toolbox)Exposure to data analysis tools such as Power BI, Minitab, or similarExperience supporting CNC programming environmentsKey CompetenciesStrong problem-solving skills combining hands-on troubleshooting with analytical thinkingAbility to manage multiple priorities and communicate clear project status updatesCollaborative mindset with strong cross-functional communication skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projectsPassion for continuous improvement and operational excellenceAdditional InformationOccasional domestic travel required (primarily to Norwood, MA headquarters)Compensation Information:This position has a starting salary range of $78,400 to $90,000 per year.
