Masis Staffing is seeking a Controller (Manufacturing / Cost Accounting) for a client in Littleton, MA. This is a full-time role, onsite 5 days a week. Essential Functions Financial close, reporting, and leadership Manage and review timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and management reporting. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Analyze departmental and company-wide P&L results compared to budget, forecast, prior year, and operating plans. Prepare financial reporting packages and supporting analysis for senior management, executive leadership, Board of Directors, auditors, and other stakeholders. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability. Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering accountability, accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing finance Own and manage the company’s cost accounting function, including standard costing, actual costing analysis, inventory valuation, product costing, and manufacturing variance analysis. Maintain and review standard costs, labor rates, overhead rates, material burden rates, and manufacturing cost assumptions. Analyze and report manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance, material usage variance, labor efficiency variance, overhead absorption, production volume variance, and inventory revaluation impacts. Partners with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Engineering to understand cost drivers, production performance, inventory movements, and margin trends. Support product margin analysis, project profitability analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and operational KPI reporting. Review inventory reserves, excess and obsolete inventory calculations, slow-moving inventory analysis, and lower-of-cost-or-market considerations. Ensure accurate accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, spare parts, service inventory, and project-based inventory, as applicable. Support periodic cycle counts, annual physical inventories, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies. Coordinate with operations teams to improve inventory accuracy, transaction discipline, and cost reporting. Develop reporting that provides visibility into manufacturing costs, absorption, inventory turns, gross margin, and operational performance. Provide financial support for make-versus-buy decisions, capital investment analysis, production efficiency initiatives, and manufacturing process improvements. Technical accounting, controls, and compliance Serve as a technical accounting resource for complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, leases, capitalized costs, impairments, consolidation, foreign currency, and other applicable accounting areas. Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls over financial reporting, accounting operations, inventory, cost accounting, cash, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and financial systems. Lead or support development of the Annual Operating Plan, capital budget, and periodic forecasts. Provide monthly variance analysis for revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, inventory, manufacturing costs, and capital spending. Global, consolidation, and tax support (as applicable) Manage monthly consolidation and reporting of foreign entities, subsidiaries, or affiliated companies, as applicable. Review intercompany transactions and monthly intercompany reconciliations. Ensure proper accounting for foreign currency transactions, translation adjustments, and intercompany balances. Support finance and accounting activities related to global expansion, international operations, or new entity setup. Maintain fixed asset and intangible asset schedules, including additions, disposals, depreciation, amortization, and roll-forward files. Support federal, state, local, and international tax filings, census reporting, and other required compliance activities. Coordinate with external tax advisors to support income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other tax-related matters. Oversee the integration of AI within accounting operations and financial reporting by leveraging automated solutions to streamline the month-end close, enhance cost accounting precision, and optimize inventory valuation. Implement AI-driven tools to strengthen internal controls and support audit readiness, while maintaining compliance with industry-specific regulatory requirements and quality standards. Education, Training, and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required; CPA preferred (or equivalent experience). Minimum 7 years of experience in Finance/Accounting. 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device manufacturing preferred). Strong business acumen with excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Proven ability to use AI tools to improve processes and productivity. Motivated self-starter able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Collaborative, team-oriented leader with the ability to influence stakeholders (including without direct authority). Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Medical device manufacturing, aerospace, or heavy equipment industry experience preferred. Physical and Environmental Considerations Ability to sit/stand for extended periods. Required use of standard office equipment (laptop, phone, copier, etc.). Typical office environment.
